Message to Parents from Mr. Martin

From:  Dexter Martin, Principal

Dear Southwest Magnet High School and Law Academy Parents,

It pleases me to introduce myself to you as your child’s new principal. I must say that I have been impressed with the hospitality of the people at Southwest High School and with the commitment that this school exhibits in its young people.  I hope to have the opportunity this year to get to know as many of you as possible, with hopes of working cooperatively with you to make your child’s learning experience an especially positive one.

As your new principal, I remain dedicated to advance our school and to remain focused on student success in academics and in character development.  Our staff will have high expectations for each student here, and we will work together to assess the school strengths and weakness in an effort to move toward excellence.  We want to ensure that each of our students graduates with competitive 21st century skills, shows strength of character, and is college ready.  Every day we will aim high. Armed with passion and with purpose, I am challenged and motivated to lead the school-based community and to engage all stakeholders in the realization of the district’s goal for our students as we strategically focus on continuous school improvement.

We embrace the challenges of the future while we continue to cherish and celebrate the traditions of the past. Our remarkable staff, involved parents and committed students come together to make Southwest Magnet High School and Law Academy a wonderful and unique place.

We hope that you will plan now to visit the school as often as possible to see the variety of activities and learning opportunities that your child will have. We firmly believe that your sons’ and daughters’ education must include your support and involvement.

Again, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work with your child. Rest assured that we are here to work cooperatively with you to ensure the best possible education for our students. May we all have a highly successful year.

Dexter Martin
