Graduation Ceremony Expectations

Because graduation is special time for students and staff, the following procedures have been adopted.

  • Please arrive early. Macon Centreplex management will provide increased security measures at entry points to the graduation ceremonies. Security protocols for entry will include metal detectors, handheld wanding and bag searches.
  • There will be NO ADMITTANCE to a graduation ceremony without a ticket. The only exception to this rule will be for Bibb County School District employees. BCSD employees must present one of the following items for entry: a district-issued photo ID badge, a school-issued photo ID badge, or a graduation ticket. If an employee is bringing a guest (non-BCSD employee), that guest must have a ticket in hand.
  • Appropriate academic and dress attire are required for student participation in the graduation ceremony.
  • Students are expected to act in a mature manner during the rehearsal and graduation ceremony. Students’ behavior that distracts from the dignity of the rehearsal or the graduation ceremony may result in expulsion from the ceremony.
  • Families and other guests must dress in a manner appropriate to a ceremonial occasion. T-shirts, shorts or other informal attire are not allowed. Proper footwear must be worn.
  • Loud or lengthy expressions of exuberance for one graduate distracts from the attention the next graduate deserves. Noisemakers (i.e., horns, whistles, etc.), beach balls, balloon bouquets, or other items that may disrupt the ceremony should not be brought into the Coliseum. Violators and others who display disruptive behavior may be escorted from the premises by Bibb County Campus Police Officers and/or other authorized personnel.

Traffic and Parking

Guests are encouraged to approach Coliseum Drive from both Exits 1 and 2 of Interstate 16 in order to ease the flow of traffic. Those arriving from Exit 1 may travel via Emery Highway to turn onto Coliseum Drive, which will allow them to make a right turn into the Macon Coliseum’s parking lot.

All traffic will enter through the main entrance of the Macon Coliseum. The lower entrance off Coliseum Drive will be closed to all traffic on Thursday through Saturday. Handicapped parking spaces will be located near the main entrance of the Coliseum. Please properly display an approved decal and let a traffic officer know if access to a handicapped parking space is needed.
