Dr. Keela Malone, PrincipalDr. Keela Malone began her education in the public school system of Nassau, Bahamas. Upon completing high school in 1982, she attended Bethune-Cookman College, Daytona Beach, Florida earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish. In 1986, she returned to the Bahamas where she entered the education profession as a teacher of English Language, Literature, and Spanish in grades 7-12.
In 1987, Dr. Malone immigrated to the United States and settled in Macon, Georgia. Her passion for educating children and adults, coupled with a desire to grow professionally, fostered a continued career in education as a high school teacher, educator in the Continuing Education Department of Macon State College, homebound facilitator, Sunday school teacher, and tutor. The ongoing encouragement of family, and mentoring of effective administrators and colleagues, led to her enrollment into the Master of Degree program in the Summer Intensive Graduate Program in Administration and Supervision, Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, Louisiana in 1994. Compelled to lifelong learning, she earned a specialist degree from Georgia College, Macon Campus in 1999, and a doctorate degree from Argosy University-Atlanta in 2006.
Dr. Malone’s educational career spans experiences as teacher, assistant principal, and principal for inner city and rural elementary, middle, and high schools, magnet schools, summer remediation and nontraditional teen dropout prevention programs. She has developed strong roots with growth in each dissimilar organization by serving and learning alongside effective administrators with different leadership styles, students from diverse backgrounds, and teachers with varied performance abilities. With every experience, her educational belief remained grounded by a Chinese proverb that learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.
With an enduring career in education, and affiliations with civic and sorority organizations, Dr. Malone has been selected to serve on numerous committees and/or pilot programs which positively impact education and the community. She has received awards that include recognition for exemplary leadership as Distinguished Title I School Principal, Outstanding Administrator, Leadership in Mentoring Young Women in the Community, and Honorary Member of the Tri-Star Music Society.
Modeling high expectations with ongoing professional learning, Dr. Malone is committed to ensuring that each child receives a high quality education which not only meets his/her needs but extends beyond perceived potential.
Dr. Keela Malone is married and has two children.
