PBIS
BIBB COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, data-driven framework proven to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a school's sense of safety and support improved academic outcomes. More than 1,000 GA schools, and 27,000 U.S. schools are implementing PBIS and saving countless instructional hours otherwise lost to discipline. The premise of PBIS is that continual teaching, combined with acknowledgement or feedback of positive student behavior will reduce unnecessary discipline and promote a climate of greater productivity, safety and learning. PBIS schools apply a multi-tiered approach to prevention, using disciplinary data and principles of behavior analysis to develop school-wide, targeted and individualized interventions and supports to improve school climate for all students. Bibb PBIS Mission:
To improve the culture and climate of the Bibb County School District and community settings through the Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports framework.
MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORT
Bibb County School District is an active PBIS District!
Active PBIS Districts have:
√ A District Leadership Team that meets at least 2 times a year
√ A PBIS Implementation Plan
√ A District Coordinator who supports school implementation
√ A cohort of schools that have trained with the Georgia Department of Education PBIS curriculum
This video was created by the Atlanta Speech School, and encourages ALL school staff to use "Every Opportunity" to positively impact our students. The improvement of school climate is the driving force in the PBIS framework. The ability to change student behaviors by teaching and modeling positive behaviors, setting clear and concise school-wide expectations and using data to guide decision-making, are very powerful tools that we as Educators have. In Bibb County Schools, we have implemented the PBIS framework to help with increasing school climate across the District in an effort to:
Plant the best seeds In our students!
