Magnet School Applications Now Open
The online application process for the Bibb County School District’s magnet schools and programs for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. Applications will remain open through December 2, for Alexander II Math & Science Magnet School; Burdell-Hunt Communications Magnet School; Dr. John H. Heard Elementary School, Academic Magnet; Vineville Academy of the Arts; Miller Fine Arts Magnet Middle School; and Central Fine Arts & International Baccalaureate Magnet High School.
Each school will host an Open House for interested families:
• Alexander II (1156 College Street): Thursday, November 13, from 6 to 7 p.m.
• Burdell-Hunt (972 Fort Hill Street): Monday, November 17, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
• Dr. John H. Heard (6515 Houston Road): Wednesday, November 12, at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
• Vineville Academy (2260 Vineville Avenue): Tuesday, November 18, from 6 to 7 p.m.
• Miller Middle (751 Hendley Street): Tuesday, November 11, at 5:30 p.m.
• Central High (2155 Napier Avenue): Friday, November 14, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Applicants at the elementary and middle school level will be placed in a lottery, with parents being notified of a student’s status in mid-January. There is no lottery for Central High School, but parents will be notified on the same time frame. From there, students will participate in the required interview, audition or essay, with parents receiving final acceptance notification by mid-February.
