JULIA MANARD

Julia Manard

Julia Manard completed her 30th year of teaching in Bibb County this year.  In 1990, she started her teaching career at Northeast High School.  When Westside opened in 1998, she moved there because it was closer to her home in Monroe County.  Ten years ago, she transferred to Rutland High School.  Being at those three schools enabled her to see students from different areas of Macon.  Teaching summer school for sixteen years also enabled her to see an even wider spectrum of students.  When Mrs. Manard thinks of retiring, she gets very lonely and discouraged. She and her husband have two sons (Ben-34 and Ryan-26).  Since their sons left home, teaching is even more important to her.  In her spare time, she reads Stephen King novels and binge watches Netflix shows.  If she did not have school, she would turn into a couch potato!  Being out of school since March 17 has made her even more excited about teaching summer school. Mrs. Manard looks forward to helping students be successful through this complex time!
