Jamie Cassady was appointed to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Student Affairs for Bibb County Schools on June 30, 2015 and has been a trailblazer within the realm of educational leadership. He has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from Auburn University at Montgomery, and an Education Specialist in Leadership from Lincoln Memorial.

His career in education started as a coach and health teacher at Griffin High School in 1992. In 2002, he transitioned to assistant principal of Griffin-Spalding Alternative School, where he worked with alternative and nontraditional students. In the Griffin-Spalding County School System Mr. Cassady also served in the position of Athletic Director. From 2011-2015 he served as Principal of A.Z. Kelsey Academy. As Assistant Superintendent for Student Affairs in the Bibb County School District, Mr. Cassady has served as an integral part of several transformative initiatives. He helped start the Attendance Truancy Task Force, which uses community partnerships to mitigate truancy in Bibb County Schools. The task force is aimed at probing into the underlying causes of truancy and holding parents accountable for the attendance of their children. During Mr. Cassady's first year with the program, there was a 20% reduction in the number of students with six or more absences.

In furtherance of his track record of cultivating a community that encourages school attendance, he attends the monthly Judge's Breakfast to discuss and collaborate with judges on the issue of Juvenile Delinquency related to the Child in Need of Services (CHINS) Law.

Mr. Cassady has completed the District Office Development Program and taught Aspiring Leaders Classes for the professional development of educators who wish to pursue principal and assistant principal roles. As Assistant Superintendent for Student Affairs, he helps direct The Leader in Me program, which is now employed at all schools in the District. The Leader in Me Program provides necessary leadership and lifestyle skills to students by embedding these skills into curricular areas.

In his role, he has taken charge of matters such as dress codes, the code of conduct, and the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports program. Mr. Cassady continues to champion student attendance and promote community engagement by helping to introduce novel programs into the Bibb County School District.
