Summer Reading Challenge 2021

     Tails and Tales!!!

We're super excited to be once again partnering with the Middle Georgia Libraries for our Summer Reading Challenge, "Tails and Tales." We have  some news for this year's summer reading. We have also added BeanStacks, an online reading resource, to help students and families log their reading this summer! Click on the BeanStack app in ClassLink to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge.
If students don't have access to the Internet this summer they can still participated by using a printed reading log.
Click on the MGRL picture below to find out more information about summer reading challenge events and activities at your local public library. To meet the MGRL reading challenge goals, just add an 5 extra minutes a day. You can also earn virtual badeges in the BeanStacks app.
The MGRL Summer Reading Challenge ends on Aug. 7, 2021. Families are encouraged to read together and participate in summer reading as a family. Families who prefer to participate in the MGRL program using print can go to this link to print out MGRL reading logs and information.

BCSD Summer Reading Challenge

This year's BCSD Summer Reading Challenge guidelines are listed below. Students who set a goal of reading about 30 minutes a day should be able to meet their reading recommendation. Use the Beanstack, aBCSD reading log or public library reading log to track reading progress this summer. Students should strive to read the recommended number of books in their Lexile range. Lexile levels can be based on most recent STAR recommended Lexile level. To find the recommended reading range, subtract 150 points from the recommended Lexile level and add 50 points to the Lexile level.

Reading can be fun and exciting. To make it even more fun, we encourage students to choose books that appeal to them, and meet the recommended guidelines below. Students are allowed to choose their own books and try new authors during the summer.
Do you need some ideas? Check out the book lists found on the web page," Summer Soup." You can go to the "Summer Soup" web page by clicking the picture of the book below.
You can also try free ebooks at the web site in ClassLink.

Check back regularly for updates and to see new resources as they are added!
