Mrs. LaShonda Gilbert is a native of the city of Macon. She attended Bibb Public Schools for elementary, middle and high school. Mrs. Gilbert is a graduate of Central High School. She attended Georgia Southern University and obtained a degree in Early Childhood Education. Once she began he teaching career, she later obtained her Master's and Specialist's degree in education. Currently, Mrs. Gilbert is a doctoral student at Walden University.
Mrs. Gilbert enjoys spending time with her family. She married her high school sweetheart and they have three beautiful children, one girl and two boys. She is the proud parent of one high schooler, one third grader and one pre-schooler. During holidays and school breaks, Mrs. Gilbert's family loves to travel.
Mrs. Gilbert began her educational career as a teacher at Walter P. Jones Elementary where she served as a second grade teacher. She then transferred to Alexander II as a second grade teacher. While at Alexander II Mrs. Gilbert was Teacher of the Year and she also taught third grade. During this time, Mrs. Gilbert obtained her gifted endorsement and served as a gifted teacher at Skyview Elementary. Later, she began her educational coaching career. Mrs. Gilbert returned to Alexander II as a Performance Leaning Coach. She also served as an Academic Coach for Porter Elementary. Her last assignment was at the Bibb County Central Office as a District Coach where she served several schools district-wide.
