Here are some of the capital projects that have been funded or are being funded through the 2011 and 2016 ESPLOST cycles.

     Veterans Elementary School

    This project was completed, and the school opened its doors in August 2016.
    Cost: $16,709,000 

     Alexander II Magnet School Roof

    Alex II  
    This roofing project is currently in progress, but HVAC improvements, a gym air conditioning installation and security upgrades are all complete.
    Budget: $2,970,000 

    Playground Installation

    Hartley Playground  
    Playgrounds were installed at L.H. Williams, Skyview, Union, Taylor, Springdale, Porter, Bernd, Carter, Hartley and Burdell-Hunt elementary schools, and Southfield's playground was relocated. After recent board approval, the rest of the district's playgrounds will get similar upgrades with benches and shade, to be completed by Spring Break 2017.
    Cost: $1,645,000 

    Porter Elementary School Renovation

    This renovation project included a new administrative office, secured entrance with access control, new roof, gym floor and new paint and carpet.
    Cost: $2,027,972 

    Furniture Replacements

    Williams, Carter, Porter (see above), Bernd and Riley elementary schools all got updated furniture.
    Cost: $295,188 

    Roof Improvements

    Southwest High School got roof work done.
    Cost: $21,930 

    Technology Improvements

    Every classroom in the district got interactive panels, which function as both a touch-screen computer and whiteboard. In addition, each school got laptop computers for testing and other functions.
    Cost: $10,534,675 

    Charter School Projects

    The Academy for Classical Education received computers.
    Cost $359,138 

    Security Improvements

    Classroom camera and audio enhancement equipment, which also has professional development and other applications, was installed at all middle and high schools, as well as SOAR Academy and three elementary schools. The school board recently approved installation at the remaining elementary schools.
    Cost: $8,037,593 

    Central Kitchen Freezer Addition

    A large freezer was added at our central kitchen, and this project is complete.
    Cost: $1,721,316 

    R.J. Williams Complex 

    The RJ Williams Complex on Anthony Road includes the Hutchings College and Career Academy. That facility is complete with a bistro, television studio, healthcare suite (pictured above), culinary kitchen and other hands-on areas for our student pathways.
    Cost: $6,207,019 (includes $3,000,000 grant from TCSG) 

    Riley Elementary Renovation

    This completed project provided Riley with HVAC replacement, roof improvements, new ceilings, paint, carpet, access control and administrative office addition.
    Cost: $3,447,679 (includes playground) 

    Bernd Elementary Renovation

    This renovation project provided Bernd with roof improvements, paint, carpet, access control, a new bus drive and drop-off area, restroom improvements and a school sign.
    Cost: $2,001,066 (includes playground)

    2017 Project Forecast

    • Playground project, classroom camera installation, furniture replacement, Alexander II roof work, security access control installation continue (Furniture exhibit coverage by the Telegraph)
    • Northeast/Appling replacement - start construction Summer 2017
    • Transportation/Campus Police facility - start construction Spring 2017 
    • Middle School Gym Air Conditioning - complete Summer 2017
