Mr. Keith Simmons is in his first year as Chief of Staff of the Bibb County School District. A career-long educator, Keith’s path has included a variety of opportunities to learn and grow as an educational leader. He began his career in his hometown of Kissimmee, Fla., where he worked in various roles as a special education teacher, dropout prevention teacher and Administrative Dean.
Most recently, Keith served as principal of Griffin High School in Spalding County from 2010 – 2015. Using a laser-like focus, Keith was instrumental in transforming the school’s climate and culture. Driven by a commitment to increase students’ access and exposure to academic rigor and CTE programs, Griffin High School saw dramatic increases in student attendance, student achievement, graduation rates and community partnerships. Prior to his tenure in Griffin, Keith served as an assistant principal in both Monroe and Bibb Counties, respectively.
Keith’s leadership preparation includes a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. He has also completed the Superintendent Professional Development Program and is a member of the Georgia School Superintendents Association. Keith is currently working on a doctoral degree in education policy.
