Welcome to the world of
Social Studies/Social Sciences!
Adrienne Hurley joined the District
from Houston County Public Schools. She is an 11-year veteran in education, who
left the field of criminal justice to answer her true calling of becoming an
educator. Her love for social science
and seeing students excel encourages her to create successful academic pathways
that will yield productive and successful citizens.
In 2004, she began a career in education which has included
working in rural and highly diverse school districts and the Department of
State as the Education Specialist in Nassau, The Bahamas. By utilizing an “Open
Door” philosophy, she plans to be visible and accessible to all teachers and
administrators because she understands the challenges social studies teachers
face in providing challenging lessons to students. She plans to work
hand-in-hand with teachers to provide a foundation of knowledge and skills to
ensure all of Bibb County’s students are career and college ready.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in
History from South Carolina State University, Master of Science from
Fort Valley State University in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Specialist in
Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She is certified in Educational
Leadership, Social Science (6-12), and Gifted Education.
Mrs. Hurley is very excited about working with parents, students, community members, and staff in
supporting the system's vision, mission and goals. She will ensure that every
social science teacher receives the necessary tools to increase academic
achievement in Bibb County!
