History Day 
All students at Rutland Middle will be participating in The National History Day Competition.  You may choose to do an Exhibit, Performance, Documentary, Web Site or Historical Paper.  This is a mandatory project for all students at Rutland Middle School!  
 
Project Deadlines:
  • Friday, October 21– turn in parent/student signature strip  
  • Thursday, December 1 – turn in topic and type of project that you will complete
  • Friday, January 13– rough draft of historical paper, story board for documentary, web site, or exhibit, script for performance
  • Thursday, January 26 – Projects due/Presentations - include bibliography and Process Paper  
  • TBD – Project Registration due to Mrs. Nobles (school-wide), date based on due date to regional competition  
The first three deadlines will equal a grade.  The final project is worth two grades.  Projects will be judged and your project may represent our school in the regional and/or state competitions.  You are strongly encouraged to refer to www.nhd.org for further details.
 
                                                                                              
  • We Want YOU To Become a Millionaire this year!  When you pass an AR test, the program keeps track of how many words you have read.  Millionaires get special recognition throughout the year.  It's not as hard as it sounds. For example, The Hunger Games has around 99,500 words.

    As part of the Georgia Standards, students should read the equivalent of 25 grade-level books each year (approximately 1 million words).  They should read from a variety of sources, such as fiction, non-fiction, textbooks, magazines, and newspapers.

    Check your Accelerated Reader goals, progress, and book shelf from home.  Click HERE.

    Search the Destiny Library Card Catalog (you do not have to sign in), use Destiny Quest, browse or check out E-books, and search suggested websites using WebPath Express (you must sign in to access features other than basic search).
